Description:
A poster
session is a powerful classroom activity.
Scientists and college science programs turn to poster sessions to
assess and critique research. In this workshop teachers will learn about the
tools and techniques necessary for science poster sessions in their own
classroom. This workshop will give
teachers a new tool for displaying unit work. Posters are visual proof that
concepts are understood. Posters synthesize words and images to teach others.
Posters allow for the sharing and the redistribution of knowledge beyond the
pupil and the teacher to classmates or the community. Posters utilize research,
planning, layout and design, peer editing, image manipulation and digital
technology, including scanners, computers and cameras. Participants will be given strategies for planning,
design, construction and assessment of science posters in the classroom.
