Audience:       Grades 6-9 Science Teachers (Physical Science Content)

Dates:             February 26, March 5, 12, and 19 (2009)

Fee:                $50 for Member Districts                 $195 for non-Member Districts

 

Description: Using practical math skills such as simple algebra, scientific notation and metric measurement in a hands-on setting, participants will investigate volume, mass, and density.  The activities will include a clear path from using volume and mass as measurements to arriving at density as a characteristic property. Scientific equipment skills will include correct use of balances, reading graduated cylinders, measuring volume by water displacement, and correct scientific safety procedures.
