Description: Using practical math skills such as simple algebra, scientific notation and metric measurement in a hands-on setting, participants will investigate volume, mass, and density. The activities will include a clear path from using volume and mass as measurements to arriving at density as a characteristic property. Scientific equipment skills will include correct use of balances, reading graduated cylinders, measuring volume by water displacement, and correct scientific safety procedures.
