Description: Using the Smart Board software, called Smart Notebook, elementary teachers will learn how to manipulate all the wonderful Smart Board features and tools across their curriculum.  Teachers will learn more ways to enhance their teaching and knowledge of the Smart Notebook. A basic knowledge of how to utilize the Smart Notebook 9.7 is required to take this class. It is recommended that you bring any curriculum materials that you want to put on the Smart Board software, plus download the 9.7 software for free at smarttech.com so that you can save anything that you work on.  Also, if you would like to share any material please bring a flash drive for easy saving of lessons that your instructor or colleagues have created using the Smart Board.  10.0 users may still join this class to learn how to utilize 10.0; however, the instructor will be using 9.7 for instruction.

Session 1:       You will learn to enhance all the basic functions that a smart board has.  For instance, grouping objects together to make one, utilizing multiplying cloning so that students can easily manipulate the smart notebook.  Plus many other fascinating features that the smart board software offers.

Session 2:       On day two you will be inspired to create math lessons that will keep even your struggling math students’ attention.  These exciting hands on digital tools will keep your math students yearning to learn. You will also learn how to add many videos and clips to your lessons to enhance your science curriculum.

Session 3:       Get ready to learn how to create a reading, writing, and language arts lesson where you don’t have to save all that chart paper from year to year.  With creative paper backgrounds and videos the Smart Board software can motivate many students in ELA.  Also with the ever changing social studies frameworks, you will learn how to search for free smart notebook lessons through smarttech that meet the needs of your social studies frameworks.

Session 4:       Session four connects assessment and technology.  Smarttech has introduced a product called Senteos.  With Senteos you can assess your students via the smart notebook and get immediate results back from the whole class.  The Senteos can take place your multiple choice and true/false tests.  In this class you will learn about how to utilize this wonderful assessment tool.  Plus, you will get the opportunity to share with your colleagues some of the great lessons that you have created.  A lesson plan must be completed and submitted on this last day to earn your 10 PDPs.
