Description:  Using the materials from Relearning to Teach Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division participants will learn how to facilitate professional development within their schools and districts.  Teachers require supportive school structures and high quality professional development to change their teaching practices in mathematics.  Professional development that is designed to meet the unique goals, needs, and constraints of schools, requires increased leadership capacity.  Teacher leaders – informal and formal – will help meet this growing need for professional development that supports the implementation of reform recommendations and standards-based teaching.

This seminar will provide participants with an understanding of professional development methods that will strengthen K-6 teachers’ mathematical understandings and instructional practices.  Using these materials provides a research-based resource that participants can use to provide on-going in-service programs.
