Audience: Grade 1-6 Classroom Teachers

PDP’s: 10 Hours with completed project

Dates: Mondays, March 22, 29, April 5, 12, 2010

Cost: $50 for member Districts $195 for non-member Districts

Time: 3:45 – 6:00 PM

Description: This workshop will help teachers improve the quality of their open response prompts and writing lessons. Many strategies will be presented to help your students write an effective, quality response to all content area open response questions including response to literature.
At this workshop you will learn to:

• Analyze state test questions
• Identify test vocabulary that strengthens students' understanding of test questions
• Identify content vocabulary that strengthens open response answers
• Create open response questions for daily writing in the content areas
• Communicate the item specific rubrics used to score answers
• Design prewriting activities to yield quality open response answers
• Facilitate activities which will help students to "dissect" open response questions
• Facilitate activities which will help students evaluate and revise their own open response answers
