Description: 

This class will introduce teachers to some of the more common web 2.0 tools, including wikis, blogs, and social networks.  Teachers will create lessons using these tools. 

 

WEEK 1. - This week will introduce participants to the benefits of using a wiki as well as copyright, fair use and privacy issues.  Teachers will be introduced to different wiki platforms and will have an opportunity  to explore these platforms to determine which one they would use in a lesson.

 

WEEK 2—Participants will create a lesson using a wiki and will be introduced to ways in which to enhance the wiki—Including other websites that can be incorporated into the wiki. 

 

WEEK 3—This week will introduce blogs as an alternative to wikis and discuss benefits of each.  Teachers will have an opportunity to explore different blogging websites to determine which one they would use in a lesson.

 

WEEK 4—Participants will finish creating a lesson using blogs as well as ways to enhance the blog with other web tools.

 

WEEK 5—Participants will share projects with the other members of the class.  Open discussion on benefits of using these tools.  We will end with a discussion on the value of social networking in the classroom.
