Description:
This program is targeted for classroom teachers, special education teachers and aides who work with at-risk high school students in grades 9 and 10. The focus of the workshop will be to review specific math strands and discuss how current technologies (PC and Graphing Handhelds) can improve student visualization and understanding of these concepts. Additionally, the topics will include instructional strategies and support material that is appropriate for these concepts. As topics are discussed, time will be spent on instruction in the use of TI technology as a tool that can greatly benefit at-risk students and their performance on the MCAS Exam along with instruction on Autograph and Cabri Geometry, PC based instructional tools. Participants will receive a 30-day license to Autograph and instructions on how to download Geogebra, a free dynamic geometry program similar to Cabri.
