Description: This workshop is designed for teachers
with less than two years experience. The focus of the workshop is to help new
teachers in creating a learning environment that engages students in the
concepts being explored in the curriculum. Participants will review and discuss
classroom management techniques such as establishing routines, maintaining
momentum, motivating students, developing disciplinary techniques and
communicating with parents and colleagues.
We will also review the latest research on the benefits of reflective
teaching and differentiated instruction.
Participants will explore some of the pitfalls encountered by new
teachers and offer strategies to avoid them.
The goal will be to apply the strategies and information garnered to
individual classrooms. Each week time will be set aside to discuss specific
issues of concern to participants.
